Noosa Triathlon Report

Noosa Triathlon was held on Sunday 4th November. There were over 5000 triathletes competing in the Olympic Distance comprising of a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride, and a 10km run.

We had podium places for two athletes Anthony Goss and Adam Beckworth. Anthony placed 2nd in the Open section with one of the best Olympic Distance races that he has completed over the past 8 years in a time of 1 hour, 56 minutes & 12 seconds. Adam placed 3rd in the 35-39 age group in a time of 2 hours, 2 minutes & 46 seconds.

Congratulations to former member Peter Kerr in winning the whole event. We were all so stoked to see him being crowned a Noosa Triathlon champion. Peter trained with Beckworth Racing for 3 years between 2007-2010. Watch out for many more world triathlon achievements in the future.

Goss Places in Noosa Triathlon

Anthony Goss placed 2nd in the Open section at the 30th Anniversary Noosa Triathlon on Sunday. There were over 5000 triathletes competing in the Olympic Distance comprising of a 1500m swim, 40km bike ride, and a 10km run.

Goss had an impressive finish with second place in the Open category. Goss finished with a time of 1 hour, 56 minutes & 12 seconds. He placed 25th overall. Goss was the 3rd competitor to exit the water. On the bike leg Goss rode with the front group in wet conditions, managing to finish with the top 5 in his category. Leaving transition in 2nd place, heading into the 10km run, Goss had 3 other competitors on his tail, and in the last 1km had 3rd place breathing down his neck. He finished the race in second place, with third finishing a close 15 seconds behind him. These results show good signs for the coming summer season in Victoria starting in three weeks time at Race One of the Gatorade Triathlon Series on Sunday 25th November.

Both Age Group competitors and professional competitors competed over the same course in similar conditions. Goss raced in the Open section which is one level below the Professional category.

"I was only expecting to go top 5 in Noosa. The training I have put in over the past 6 months has played a huge part in my placing today. I am really looking forward to the summer season ahead."

Other great results were Adam Beckworth in 3rd place in the 35-39 age group.

Next race: Gatorade Triathlon Series Race 1, St. Kilda – Sunday 25th November. It is over a distance of 500m swim 20km ride 5km run.

Local Geelong triathletes take on Noosa Triathlon after Worlds Age Group success

Geelong athletes Scott McPherson and Anthony Goss will be heading to Noosa this week to compete at the annual Noosa Triathlon. There will be over 5000 triathletes competing over the Olympic Distance which is a 1500m swim 40km bike ride and a 10km run.  Scott and Anthony recently achieved top 10 results at the World Olympic Distance Age Group Championships held in Auckland, New Zealand. Scott a 5th place in the 20-24 age group and Anthony a 9th place in the 25-29 age group. Also competing is Adam Beckworth who placed 2nd in the 35-39 age group last year.

Both Scott and Anthony will be competing in the Open age category at Noosa which is one level below the pro category. This category is for people who are trying to qualify for a pro license. A top 6 position is their aim with a top 3 being the ultimate.

Scott: “This is my first time at Noosa and I have heard it is a fast course so I am looking forward to testing out my run speed on it. After a great result in cold New Zealand weather I am looking to enjoying the warmer weather in Noosa where I am sure I can go quicker. A top 6 result is possible but I will see how I go”

Anthony:
“I have been to Noosa Triathlon over the past 5 years and had mixed results. This year I am a lot fitter than I have ever been. My overall strength has really improved for the swim and bike. The racing I did in France last year has really helped my training to go to another level. For me at Noosa I am aiming for a top 5.”
